If you intend to use your documents in a foreign country that is not a party of the Hague Convention, then the chain legalization process must be followed. Documents are typically legalized by the Consulate or Embassy of the country where your document(s) will be submitted. There may be initial certification requirements depending on the country and agency who issued the document but the 2 most important completion steps usually occur in Washington, DC (the authentication of the US Department of State and the legalization by the foreign Embassy/Consulate).

Documents We legalize include:

  • Birth/Death Certificates

  • Power of Attorneys

  • Articles of Incorporation, Corporate Documents, Agreements,

  • Divorce Records

  • Passport Copies

  • Immigration Documents

  • Name Change Forms, and more.

First State Apostille & Notary Services, LLC., offers full frontal legalization processing including document pick, notarizing, legalization processing, and drop off or shipping of your document(s) once the process is completed. Process turnaround time is approximately 7-10 business days(*Processing times vary with options).

Contact us today and we will gladly advise you on your processing options available.

5 Steps to Get Your Documents Legalized:

  • Step 1 - Schedule an appointment to have one or our mobile notaries meet to notarize your document(s) and collect for processing.

  • Step 2 - We authenticate the signature of the notary by the county clerk’s office in which the notary signature is registered.

  • Step 3 - We have document(s) certified by the Department or Secretary of State.

  • Step 4 - We bring the document(s) to the Legalization/Authentication section of the Embassy or Consulate for officials to verify signatures/markings on the document(s) and affix their own authentication (which formally recognizes the documents as valid and legally effective for use in that country.

  • Step 5 - We deliver or ship your documents back to you or anywhere in the world (at your request).
